Contractor Code of Conduct

Introduction

The Local Tradez Contractor Code of Conduct sets the minimum standards expected of all contractors, tradespeople, subcontractors and service providers using the Local Tradez Platform.

The purpose of this Code is to promote professionalism, trust, reliability, safety and positive customer experiences.

By registering as a contractor on Local Tradez, you agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.

 

Professional Conduct

Contractors must conduct themselves professionally at all times.

This includes:

  • Treating customers respectfully
  • Communicating honestly
  • Acting in good faith
  • Representing their business accurately
  • Behaving courteously both online and in person

Contractors must not engage in abusive, threatening, intimidating or discriminatory behaviour.

 

Honest Representation

Contractors must ensure all information provided to Local Tradez is accurate and current.

This includes:

  • Business information
  • ABN details
  • Licence information
  • Insurance information
  • Trade qualifications
  • Service areas
  • Contact details

Providing false or misleading information may result in suspension or termination of access to the platform.

 

Licensing & Compliance

Contractors are solely responsible for ensuring they hold all licences, permits, registrations and approvals required to legally perform their services.

Contractors must:

  • Comply with applicable Australian laws
  • Comply with state and territory licensing requirements
  • Maintain all required registrations
  • Maintain all required insurances

Contractors must immediately update their profile if any licence, registration or insurance policy expires, is suspended or is cancelled.

 

Insurance Requirements

Contractors are responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance coverage relevant to their trade and services.

Examples may include:

  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Workers Compensation Insurance
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Vehicle Insurance

Local Tradez does not verify or guarantee insurance coverage and contractors remain solely responsible for maintaining adequate protection.

 

Communication Standards

Contractors should:

  • Respond to enquiries promptly
  • Communicate clearly and professionally
  • Provide realistic expectations
  • Notify customers of delays where possible
  • Keep customers informed throughout the project

Good communication is one of the core principles of the Local Tradez platform.

 

Quoting & Pricing

Contractors should:

  • Provide honest and realistic pricing
  • Clearly explain exclusions where applicable
  • Identify assumptions where relevant
  • Communicate potential variations early

Contractors must not intentionally provide misleading or deceptive pricing.

 

Workmanship & Quality

Contractors are expected to:

  • Perform works with reasonable care and skill
  • Follow applicable standards and regulations
  • Deliver services consistent with industry expectations
  • Rectify issues where legally required

All workmanship remains the responsibility of the contractor.

Local Tradez does not supervise, inspect or guarantee any works.

 

Workplace Health & Safety

Contractors are responsible for:

  • Their own workplace health and safety obligations
  • Site safety compliance
  • Risk management
  • Worker safety
  • Compliance with relevant legislation

Contractors must not undertake unsafe work practices.

 

Respect For Customer Property

Contractors must:

  • Respect customer homes and property
  • Take reasonable care to avoid damage
  • Leave work areas in a reasonable condition
  • Act professionally when attending properties

 

Reviews & Reputation

Contractors acknowledge that customers may provide reviews based on their experience.

Contractors must not:

  • Attempt to manipulate reviews
  • Create fake reviews
  • Harass customers regarding reviews
  • Offer incentives in exchange for misleading reviews

Professional conduct and quality service remain the best way to build a positive reputation.

 

Use Of The Platform

Contractors must not:

  • Use the platform unlawfully
  • Spam users
  • Harass users
  • Upload inappropriate content
  • Misuse customer information
  • Attempt to circumvent platform security

Contractors are expected to use Local Tradez in a manner consistent with its purpose as a workflow and communication platform.

 

Independent Business Relationship

Contractors acknowledge that:

  • They are independent businesses
  • They are not employees of Local Tradez
  • They are not agents of Local Tradez
  • They operate entirely at their own risk

Nothing within the platform creates an employment, partnership or agency relationship.

 

Breaches Of This Code

Local Tradez reserves the right to:

  • Issue warnings
  • Restrict platform access
  • Suspend accounts
  • Remove contractor profiles
  • Terminate access

where a contractor breaches this Code of Conduct, the Terms & Conditions or applicable laws.

Serious breaches may result in immediate removal from the platform.
